Position Description This is a communicable disease investigator position working approx. 40 hrs per week through December 2018. The purpose of this position is to assist Maricopa Department of Public Health with cancer case reporting and investigations.
Skills Required Experience working in data abstraction, disease surveillance, or as a disease investigator. Ability to interpret complex information on cancer diagnosis, extent of disease, and treatment information. Communicates state regulation and cancer reporting requirements. Knowledge of International Classification of Diseases for Oncology, American Joint Committee on Cancer TNM Staging; Multiple Primary Rules related to the determination of primary tumor and histology.
Skills Preferred
Experience Required Prior work experience in a hospital based or centralized cancer registry program.
Experience Preferred Specialized Training, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements: Must currently possess a valid Arizona driver's license and a dependable, insured personal motor vehicle by the time of hire. Mileage reimbursement is available for travel in a personal vehicle as required by this position. Degrees/credits must be from an academically accredited high school, college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education (CHEA).
Education Required Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Science, or a health related field such as nursing, microbiology, or pre-medicine.
